Jump for Jazz
Boulder County has incredible musical jazz talent but not enough is known about jazz. This event will offer locals a chance to learn about the many genres within jazz, including exciting Brazilian, Latin and Gypsy jazz styles.
Jump for Jazz is a one-time music education event to take place on Sunday, June 28th, 2015, 11 am – 10 pm at the Dairy Center for the Arts, Boulder, Colorado. It will include concurrent educational sessions during the day and an evening jazz concert.
The purpose of this event is to educate the public in general and youth in particular about the many varieties of jazz and how each is created and performed. We will be publicizing locally and reaching out in particular to the youth population in our efforts.
Jump for Jazz will make use of two theaters at the Dairy Center and offer two concurrent hour-long workshops throughout the day, each focusing on a different type of jazz. Each session will have several musicians who explain and demonstrate how their genre of jazz is created and executed. We are especially eager to involve youth in these workshops.
The day will start at 11 am and end at 10 pm. The final event of the day will be a concert in the performance space, exhibiting genres that were offered in the daytime sessions. Whereas the daytime workshop sessions will be free, the evening concert starting at 7 pm will be a ticketed event.
For this ongoing effort to continue, we need to pay ongoing fees at the facility well before the event. Thank you for your generosity.
Our present fundraising efforts also include donations, house concert fundraisers, potential fiscal sponsorships, and grant writing. All donations to Jump for Jazz are tax-deductible, and donors will be featured in the program. Where a business or organization is making a donation, we will include your logo as well.
Thank You from the Jump for Jazz Organizing Committee!
